
THE JANIS DAVIDSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITION

Each year AAPi sponsors the annual Janis Davidson Memorial Scholarship Program. These scholarships are awarded to 2 qualifying students enrolled in an eligible paralegal studies program. The awards are given to 2 students who, in the opinion of the awards committee, submit the best original essays on each year's selected theme, provided that all other eligibility criteria are met; to be eligible to enter, a student must meet the following:
* A resident of the State of Alabama
* Student member of AAPi
* Show proof of current enrollment in an approved
paralegal studies program of a Junior College, College
or University within the State of Alabama recognized by the U.S. Department of
Education
* Submit a transcript evidencing a 3.0 or better on
a 4.0 scale and must have completed at least 3
paralegal courses in his/her curriculum
* The work must be original and the student must be
willing to attest to its originality; and
* The student agrees to having his essay published
in NOVUS
This year's essay topic was "The Pros and Cons of Regulating the Paralegal Profession".

THE CP/CLA ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
AAPi awards 2 active members annual study assistant grants or up to $125 toward CP/CLAS and Specialty exams.
Winners are selected from a drawing at the summer annual business meeting.
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARALEGALS
AAPi members strongly believe that education
is essential to career development and enhancement. The organization supports
regional meetings which offer members the chance to hear outstanding speakers in
the field and AAPi sponsors at least 2 educational seminars each year which qualify for
CLE credits.
